A paraffinic demulsifier (100% concentrated petroleum demulsifier) is recommended to break oil field oil/water emulsions and aid in solids removal from liquids providing a high quality produced crude and clean effluent water. These emulsion breakers work by attacking the droplet interface causing the droplets to disperse or gather into larger droplets. This demulsification action causes a density change making it easier for separation to occur. Factors that influence the type of emulsion breaker selected include the type of emulsion, either oil-in-water or water-in-oil, and the API gravity of the crude. Evaluation of the rate of water drop, sharpness of oil/water interface, and cleanliness of the water are included in analyzing for the proper oilfield demulsifier.

In oil production systems, water is often present in the reservoir and is co-produced with the oil. Due to the presence of emulsifying agents, such as:

  • Naturally occurring surfactants in the oil / water
  • Silts, fine solids, drilling mud, and clays
  • Shearing effects resulting from turbulent flow and pumps, these fluids combine to form an emulsion
  • Water and steam floods.

Water clarifiers or reverse demulsifiers are also available for aid in removing oil and solids from oil field and industrial waters.

How to formulate the demulsifier by demulsifier formulator

These solutions are prepared using a special formulator which acts as the base agent which can then be modified into water based or oil based demulsifiers. Water soluble types can dissolve into crude oil, ethanol, methanol or any water based solution. Oil based types dissolve in organic solutions, crude, toluene, benzene and other aromatic solvents.

Demulsifier (petroleum refineries demulsifier) is mainly formulated by surfactant demulsifier formulator, which is polymerized by starting agent and blocks of fatty alcohol, fatty acid, fatty amines, epoxy propane and ethylene oxide, or modified or built up for its polymers. Under normal temperature, it is one kind of pale yellow fluid, which is classified into water-soluble demulsifier and oil-soluble demulsifier. The water-soluble emulsion breaker is soluble in crude oil, water or ethanol or methanol, and could be mixed with water in any ratio, forming into emulsion when meeting with water. The oil-soluble demulsifier is soluble in crude oil, organic solvents such as ethanol, benzene, methylbenzene, toluene, xylene, Methanol, aromatic other solvent etc.

 
 
 

Packaging and Handling:


RIMPRO high concentrated demulsifier (petroleum demulsifier) is packaged in 55 gal. Steel drums. (208 liters) It contains an aromatic solvent, and should be handled easily semi skilled workers.
 
 
 

Oil Soluble Demulsifier (Crude Oil Demulsifier)

Rimpro oil soluble demulsifier series is a totally organic liquid formulation of surfactants and dispersants in a water and soluble in toluene, Xylene, Aromatic solvent, crude oil for the demulsification of water in oil and oil in water, capable of performance at room temperature, but with improved speed and percentage of oil removed when applied at temperatures near 60 deg. C (140 deg. F). RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier destabilizes the oil-water interface that surrounds each water particle in the emulsion, replaces the emulsifier molecules (if any), and allows the water to coalesce. RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier (demulsification of crude oil) is a completely combustible, non-abrasive; non-ash-forming treatment, which will improve the quality of the fuel it, is added to. Dosage of Crude Oil Demulsifier (Oil Soluble Demulsifier):

Because of the diverse nature of oil and waste amenable to treatment with RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier (demulsification of crude oil), specific recommendations have to be made on a case-by-case basis. The dosage of RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier prescribed to break a particular emulsion varies from as little as 1 gallon per 20,000 gallons (50 ppm) of oil to as much as 1 gallon per 10,000 gallons (100 ppm) of oil. A few clients have even found that 20 ppm was more effective than the higher dosages, so we suggest adding the lower levels to your laboratory bench tests to verify the correct dosage for the specific application. Finding the most cost-effective dosage, as well as determining the best conditions of temperature, slow mixing, settling time, etc., is best done in the laboratory, using a sample of the actual oil or waste and a sample of RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier
 
 
 

Application of Oil Soluble Demulsifier :

Once you have determined the correct dose of RIMPRO crude oil demulsifier, fill the tank with the waste-oil-water solution and inject the correct dose of RIMPRO oil soluble demulsifier for demulsification of crude oil, directly from the drum. Mix thoroughly, with the assistance of a pump, for two to five hours. Mixing time varies depending on the size of the tank and the speed of the motor. Allow the fuel to settle and check for water separation. Depending on the configuration of the tank, either remove the water by means of a drain in the bottom or suck the clean oil off from the top of the tank.
